Gaming platform Roblox sues British charity

Roblox Corporation, the American gaming conglomerate, has initiated legal proceedings against a British grocery company and its charity division for alleged intellectual property violations. The lawsuit was filed in the London High Court on Friday, according to recent reports by City AM. The parties involved in the dispute are Roblox Corporation, Roc Co Brands, and its charitable arm, Rocco Brands Group.

Roc Co Brands is a privately held food manufacturer founded in May 2020 by a British family in memory of their son, Rocco, who survived a critical medical incident at birth. The company donates all net profits from its sales to healthcare and children's welfare organizations, including the National Health Service (NHS) and Ronald McDonald House Charities UK. Over the past year, Rocco Brands Group has raised £15,000 for charity.

The lawsuit was filed in the Intellectual Property and Enterprise Court, a specialized division of the High Court, with Winston Taylor representing Roblox Corporation. Roblox Corporation holds active trademark registrations for its name and logo through the UK Intellectual Property Office. However, the details of the case and the specific product in question are not yet disclosed. Roblox Corporation, Roc Co Brands, and Winston Taylor have been requested for comment.
