Galaxy S26 series reportedly getting a price hike imminently, could be as much as $100

In the world of smartphone pricing, Samsung is facing a new challenge as it prepares to raise the cost of its Galaxy S26 series, possibly by up to $100. This report, which first surfaced in Korean media, suggests that the price increases will take effect starting October 1 in South Korea. The Galaxy S26 lineup, which debuted in February, has seen slight price adjustments since its launch, with the base model priced at $899, $1,099 for the S26+, and the Ultra at $1,299.

However, the current market conditions have changed significantly, prompting Samsung to consider further price adjustments. According to Hans Economy, the planned price hikes are driven by two primary factors: the ever-increasing cost of components and the fact that Apple recently raised the price of its iPhone 18 Pro series by $100.

The new iPhones start at $899 in the US and 1,450,000 won in South Korea, creating a competitive landscape that puts Samsung's pricing in question. Although Samsung has not officially announced these price changes, the company is reportedly conducting internal reviews to determine if adjustments are necessary to offset cost burdens, such as the recent surge in component prices.

Samsung spokesperson reiterated that "nothing has been finalized" regarding the price increase for the Galaxy S26 series.
