Fresh bandits attack exposes security lapses in Oyo – APC raises alarm

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has denounced the recent bandit attack as evidence of glaring security shortcomings. In a statement released by its Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, on Monday, the party criticized the current administration for failing to ensure the safety of its citizens. The attack occurred on Sunday when suspected bandits infiltrated a base established for Operation Burst, a security unit in Oyo State, along the Igbeti/Igboho road.

According to reports, the intruders stole valuable assets, such as a generator and a motorcycle, from the site. The APC contends that this incident has brought to light the security deficiencies in the state and questions the effectiveness of the recently acquired multi-million naira surveillance aircraft purchased by Governor Seyi Makinde.

The party’s spokesman expressed disappointment at the governor’s continuous criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, labeling it as a demonstration of inadequate economic management. The APC spokesperson also lamented the absence of surveillance aircraft to monitor and combat the attackers, stating that the state’s security was severely undermined when insurgents launched a terror campaign on the Operation Burst base in Olorunsogo local government area.

He contended that the claimed deployment of the surveillance aircraft has been nothing more than a hoax, given that there was no surveillance to track the attackers or prevent the attack. The APC concluded that the entire narrative surrounding the surveillance aircraft surveillance is a mere deception.
