Francis Sosu calls for thorough probe into $260m cocaine seizure

Francis Sosu, Member of Parliament for Madina and a member of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, has called for a comprehensive investigation into the seizure of a $260 million cocaine shipment by French authorities. The French customs officers intercepted the large quantity of cocaine concealed in a container of plastic waste at the Dunkirk port on Thursday, 10 September.

It is believed that a portion of the consignment was intended for Antwerp, Belgium. In a Facebook post, the lawmaker highlighted the importance of Ghana's reputation as a nation committed to democratic governance and international cooperation, noting that recent administrations have made significant efforts to promote Ghana as a respected global player.

Sosu emphasized that the country's hard-earned international standing should not be jeopardized by individuals seeking to exploit Ghana's connections for personal gain. He urged relevant Ghanaian authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the shipment and determine if any individuals or entities within Ghana were involved in the alleged trafficking operation.

Anyone found guilty, regardless of their status or connections, must face the full force of the law.
