Four women found dead in Kempton Park: Police probe possible links as fear grips community

Four women were found dead in Kempton Park between July and September, with the South African Police Service (SAPS) investigating the possibility of a connection between the cases, according to acting Gauteng provincial police commissioner Major General Fred Kekana.

The first victim, a 37-year-old woman, was discovered naked near the R21 on July 15, 2026, having been restrained with cable ties. Kekana stated that investigators have made progress and a suspect is currently in custody.

The second body, that of a 32-year-old woman, was found near the R21 on August 24, also partially clothed. The third body, of an unidentified woman, was discovered on September 10 in an advanced state of decomposition, naked. Her identity has not been confirmed yet.

The fourth body, that of a 38-year-old woman, was found on September 12 in Rhodesfield, at the back of a local hotel, partially clothed. Her identity is still being confirmed by the family.

Kekana emphasized that while there are similarities in some circumstances, the investigation team is being cautious not to prematurely conclude that the cases are linked or that one perpetrator is involved. The team, comprising detectives, forensic specialists, tracking teams, and K9 units, is analysing evidence, timelines, locations, and victim profiles to determine any connections.

The police warned the public against speculating and urged caution when meeting people met through online dating platforms, as 10 cases of robbery and sexual assault have been reported in Kempton Park. Anyone with information is asked to contact Warrant Officer Elvis Manyike.
