Former Houston Oiler says he was victim of car break-in caught on camera

Former Houston Oilers running back Alonzo Highsmith expressed his emotional reaction upon returning to the city he loves. The joy of being back in Houston was quickly overshadowed by the distressing discovery of his rental car having been broken into while he enjoyed a meal at a local restaurant. Highsmith's loss was immense as thieves took not only his luggage containing all his clothes but also his backpack, which held his work, iPad, computer, and emergency credit cards.

Highsmith was able to view the incident through surveillance footage from a nearby establishment. He recounted the sequence of events, noting how the perpetrator used a flashlight to inspect the vehicle, signaled another individual, and then heard the sound of a shattered window. A figure then entered the car, climbing in completely, with his feet visible as he proceeded to steal Highsmith's belongings.

Both Highsmith and the restaurant owner have informed the Houston police, who are now actively investigating the case. Despite the theft of numerous items, Highsmith expressed his most pressing desire - the return of his wife's rings.
