Five people killed in a midnight crash at Kikopey

Nairobi, Kenya – A tragic road accident claimed the lives of five individuals on Sunday night at the Kikopey area on the Nakuru-Naivasha highway, in Gilgil, Nakuru County. The fatal collision occurred between a saloon car and a passenger bus, as the occupants of the car returned from the burial of a parent in Seme, Kisumu County.

According to Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Winstone Mwakio, the deceased were en route when their small car, traveling uphill, veered off course and collided with the bus that was descending towards Gilgil and Nakuru. The impact was severe, causing the car to plunge underneath the bus.

As a result, five people lost their lives at the scene, while a sixth individual sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Nakuru Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were subsequently transported to PNN Funeral Home for burial.
