Fahmi warns that communalism and corruption can weaken Malaysia’s future

KUCHING, Sept 14 — In a warning about the challenges facing Malaysia's future, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil emphasized the importance of younger generations understanding the country's history and rejecting corruption. Fahmi highlighted three factors that could weaken a nation: communism, communalism, and corruption.

While communism posed a significant security threat in the past, with armed movements and disruptions to public peace, he stressed that vigilance against communalism is still necessary, as it can arise when individuals prioritize their own race over others, leading to oppression. As a leader, Fahmi understands that holding a position is a trust and a responsibility to act in the public interest, never betraying that trust.

He noted that Malaysia's formation was unique, achieved through consensus and negotiation rather than conflict, and urged the younger generation to preserve the country's history and values to maintain peace, unity, and progress.
