Emily St. John Mandel’s new novel ‘Exit Party’ builds on favorite themes in her ‘Mandelverse’

After seven novels that span centuries, continents and even planets, Emily St. John Mandel has created a universe unto herself known as the Mandelverse. New York Times reporter notes that her latest novel, "Exit Party," continues to build on themes she's explored throughout her work. Set in a post-traumatic future, "Exit Party" continues Mandel's storytelling by weaving together crime fiction and science fiction elements.

The narrative follows characters and events from her previous novels, such as "Station Eleven" and "Sea of Tranquility." In a recent interview, Mandel revealed that she feels more freedom in her writing and is able to explore genres without constraints. She also discussed her fascination with alternate paths in life and how they might shape an individual.
