Egypt’s SC Zone seeks Brazilian companies

São Paulo – Representatives of Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SC Zone) have been meeting with Brazilian officials to explore opportunities for businesses to establish operations in the industrial and port zones along the Suez Canal. The SC Zone, a strategic maritime route connecting Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, is comprised of six ports and four industrial zones, hosting a diverse range of industries such as food, vehicles, data centers, and chemicals.

During a meeting at the Arab Chamber in São Paulo, Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, vice chairman of the Northern Region, emphasized the SC Zone's potential in logistics and industrial sectors. Hassan highlighted Brazil's potential in the grain sector, aiming to promote distribution centers that can reach the entire region. Eldahab, director general of Green Economy, underscored the SC Zone's strategic position, showcasing that products can reach Europe in less than a week, while a ship departing from Brazil might take a month to reach Mediterranean Sea countries.

Elghedab also noted Egypt's growing trade with Brazil, as Egypt is a major grain-consuming market. The Arab Chamber and Egypt have a free trade agreement with the Mercosur bloc comprising Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Brazil is expected to send a trade mission to Egypt in December, with a visit to the SC Zone during the trip.
