Diabetes Qatar organises ‘Girls Prevention Camp’

Doha, Qatar witnessed the organization of a 'Girls Prevention Camp' by Diabetes Qatar on September 12, with 22 girls aged 12 to 14 participating in the event. The camp was held to raise health awareness and promote healthy lifestyles from an early age among the female participants.

The primary goals of the camp were to educate the girls about healthy nutrition, the significance of physical activity, and how to make healthier choices in their daily lives. The program comprised health assessments, interactive sessions on healthy eating and weight management, as well as various physical activities.

A key component of the camp was an educational supermarket tour, during which the participants learned how to read nutrition labels, compare food products, and choose healthier alternatives. Additionally, a practical activity focused on making healthier dining-out choices, including selecting appropriate menu options and portion sizes, was conducted.

The camp culminated with a session that assisted the participants in setting realistic health goals they could continue to work towards. This initiative is part of a broader range of programs and initiatives by Diabetes Qatar aimed at promoting prevention and health awareness among different segments of the community. These efforts include awareness programs and campaigns for school students, diabetes prevention programs, and awareness campaigns on diabetes during pregnancy conducted in various shopping malls.
