DBT transfers reach Rs 2.08 lakh crore

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under 320 welfare schemes and subsidies has reached a staggering ₹2.08 lakh crore so far in the current fiscal year, according to government data. Fertilizer subsidy topped the list with ₹62,984 crore, followed by the Public Distribution System at ₹52,741 crore. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme ranked third with transfers of ₹15,241 crore.

A total of 245 crore transactions were recorded. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin contributed ₹10,423 crore, while PAHAL, the LPG subsidy scheme, saw ₹4,788 crore in transfers. ₹56,170 crore was allocated to other schemes. Haryana emerged as the top-ranked state, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Tripura. The data encompasses 32 schemes from the higher education department, 22 from social justice and empowerment, 21 from agriculture and farmers welfare, 14 from agricultural research and education, and 13 programs from the labor and employment ministry.
