When Insurekot Sports Private Limited (ISPL) pulled out of their ownership of Ganges Grandmasters mere days before the Global Chess League 2026 auction, chaos ensued. The franchise lacked a manager, a coach, and a team to compete. The league had to step in and provide temporary management to keep the team afloat. Just a week later, the Ganges Grandmasters, now led by a last-minute hire and an entirely new set of players, clinched the GCL Season 4 title, defying expectations and emerging as the underdog victors.
