COSCO SHIPPING Ports Showcases at Hong Kong Green Week and ReThink HK, Sharing Practices in Low-Carbon Development and Nature-Based Governance

COSCO SHIPPING Ports, a leading global ports logistics service provider, participated in Hong Kong Green Week and the 7th edition of ReThink HK from September 10-11, 2026. The Company showcased its practices and insights on low-carbon initiatives, smart port development, and ecological conservation, with a focus on biodiversity governance and the green low-carbon transition of the shipping industry.

At Hong Kong Green Week, a seminar titled "Nature-related Disclosure and Biodiversity Risk Assessment" was held. During the event, COSCO SHIPPING Ports presented its nature-related assessment practices aligned with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework. General Manager of Public Relations Department, Ms. Venus Zhao, introduced the Company's sustainability framework GRAND, with 'Nature-minded Stewardship' as one of the core pillars.

COSCO SHIPPING Ports applied a mitigation hierarchy of Avoidance, Mitigation, Compensation, Protection to all newbuild, reconstruction, and expansion projects. TNFD-consistent nature-related assessments were launched in 2025 to systematically identify impacts, dependencies, risks, and opportunities stemming from the Company’s operations and upstream-downstream value chains.

The Company also translated commitments into tangible actions through partnerships with WWF Hong Kong and environment education programs co-organized with Ocean Park Conservation Foundation Hong Kong.

At the ReThink HK panel discussion "Scaling Low and Zero Carbon Vessels and Green Fuels: Advancing a Net Zero Fleet in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area," COSCO SHIPPING Ports shared its ESG progress. The Company is driving electrification of terminal equipment, deploying renewable energy to cut operational energy consumption, and rolling out comprehensive Scope 3 carbon inventory work.

It has developed diversified decarbonization solutions for customers, with all domestically-controlled terminals providing shorepower supply and some equipped for LNG tank swap refueling services and biofuel bunking capability. This milestone marks a key step for Hong Kong Port toward becoming a green marine fuel bunkering hub.
