Bekas pengarah syarikat didakwa tipu RM4.7 juta urusan beli kereta terpakai

KUALA LUMPUR: A former car dealership executive faces 71 charges of fraud for allegedly deceiving a businessman over the purchase of non-existent used cars, resulting in a loss of RM4.7 million, according to the court. Kee Cher Kian, 34, pleaded not guilty to all charges after being presented with all 71 allegations before Judges Azrul Darus, Norma Ismail, and Muhammad Ilmami Ahmad.

At the initial hearing with Judge Azrul, Kee was charged with 26 counts of acting as the director of Buycar2u, which allegedly misled Wong Yoong Jed, the director of Viso Capital Sdn Bhd and Lio Capital Sdn Bhd, to believe that various types of cars were available for purchase, including Toyota Alphard, Vellfire, Lexus RX200, and IS 250, Land Rover Evoque, Mini Cooper, Mercedes Benz C200, and BMW X5.

This led Wong to transfer RM1.69 million from Lio Capital and Viso Capital bank accounts to Buycar2u's bank account. Before Judges Norma and Muhammad Ilmami, Kee faced 30 charges involving RM1.98 million and 15 charges involving RM1.02 million, all allegedly committed across several banks around the capital city, including Menara KL Sentral and Jalan Perak, between July 5, 2022, and August 3, 2022, under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine, if found guilty.

The prosecution is being handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Suriatey Mohamed Yusoff and Eugenie Meredith Gilbert, while the defendant is represented by attorney J Matthews. All three courts granted Kee the option to post RM215,000 bail with a surety and a passport to be released until the matter is resolved, with the next hearing scheduled for October 16.
