Atta-Akyea denies abandoning Adu-Boahene, others

Samuel Atta-Akyea, the attorney representing Kwabena Adu-Boahene, Angela Adjei-Boateng, and Advantage Solutions Limited, has refuted allegations that he has abandoned his clients in their criminal trial. Adu-Boahene, a former Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Angela Adjei-Boateng, and another individual are facing charges for allegedly stealing GH¢49 million from the state.

The attorney dismissed social media reports suggesting that he had given up on his clients, stating that the claims were "wretched and vile propaganda" and that his legal team remained dedicated to defending them. The case is currently being heard by Justice Francis Apangabuno Achibonga, who is sitting as an additional High Court Judge.

In a public notice, Atta-Akyea emphasized that the legal team was actively preparing a strong and credible argument to contest the allegations. He expressed the hope that this submission would shed light on the issues surrounding the accusations against his clients. Atta-Akyea further stated that the court is the proper venue for resolving disputes and determining evidence and the law's role in the trial, which he characterized as being impacted by "unfortunate propaganda."

The prosecution's case against Adu-Boahene and the other accused persons revolves around the management of funds belonging to a state security agency. Atta-Akyea assured that his legal team would rely on the evidence presented by the court and relevant laws while formulating their submission of no case. He also hoped that the court would "turn on the light" to dispel the darkness surrounding the allegations.
