Apple appoints first head of government affairs for Pakistan

Apple has announced the appointment of Salman Dar as its first Head of Government Affairs for Pakistan. The Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, expressed her welcome in a LinkedIn post, stating that the appointment signifies increasing collaboration between Apple and Pakistan. The minister expressed her happiness over the new addition to Apple's operations in the country.

Khawaja further mentioned that Apple's involvement in Pakistan over the past two years, coupled with the nation's evolving digital landscape, has started to yield positive outcomes. She congratulated Salman Dar on securing the position and expressed her optimism for a mutually beneficial partnership aimed at expanding Apple's presence in Pakistan.

In response to the news, Salman Dar confirmed his new role as Head of Government Affairs - Pakistan at Apple, stating that he would lead the company's engagement with regulators, policymakers, and key stakeholders in the country. Dar's new position was announced through a separate LinkedIn post.

The appointment of Dar comes at a time when Pakistan is striving to enhance its digital economy and attract more participation from global technology firms. Khawaja also acknowledged the support of Omar El Rifai, Apple's Director of Government Affairs for the Middle East and Pakistan, during the appointment process.
