Mercedes-AMG has unveiled a special edition of the Coupé model, the CLE 646, catering to enthusiasts of combustion engines. Only 30 units of this high-performance variant will be produced, and they are being handcrafted in Affalterbach. The CLE 646 is suitable for both road and race use, and according to the manufacturer, all vehicles have already been sold.

Mercedes does not disclose the price of this model, which is the second in the "Mercedes-Benz Mythos" series, following the PureSpeed with a limited production of 250 units.

The CLE 646 is based on the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53, with significant modifications to the engine and chassis. The weight is reduced by 170 kilograms through the extensive use of carbon and plastic instead of steel and glass, and the rear seats are omitted. The dry weight is claimed to be 1,895 kilograms. Additionally, the all-wheel-drive system is replaced with a rear-wheel-drive configuration, and the standard six-cylinder engine is replaced by a 4.0-liter V8 turbocharged unit producing 475 kW (646 PS) and 850 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 0-100 km/h acceleration is expected to be 3.9 seconds, and the car can reach 200 km/h in 11.4 seconds, with a top speed of 310 km/h.

For race use, the Coupé features a joint development of the suspension system by KW, ceramic brakes, and an optimized aerodynamics package. The front and rear bumpers are extended by 60 millimeters each, and the tires are up to 335 millimeters wide. The front diffuser and rear wing can be adjusted for road use. The CLE 646 is the second model in Mercedes-Benz's "Mercedes-Benz Mythos" series, following the limited production PureSpeed.
