Amazon suspends 21 Air operations following Miami cargo plane crash

Washington, September 14 — In the wake of a tragic accident that claimed five lives, Amazon has decided to temporarily suspend its operations with 21 Air LLC, the company that operated the cargo plane involved in the incident. Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel released a statement expressing the company's unwavering commitment to safety, stating, "Safety has always been our top priority, whether in our own operations or when we're working with partners."

Nantel further explained that, following the investigation, Amazon has made the decision to pause its operations with 21 Air until further notice.

The incident occurred on September 6 when a Boeing 767 cargo plane, operated by 21 Air, overshot the runway upon landing at Miami International Airport. The plane crashed into several vehicles, resulting in the deaths of five individuals on the ground. Both pilots involved in the crash have since been released from the hospital.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the accident. NTSB chief Jennifer Homendy has revealed that the investigators are analyzing flight data and cockpit voice recorders from the plane. Initial flight data released by investigators suggests that the aircraft attempted to abort its landing before colliding with a perimeter fence and ultimately striking two vehicles.
