Amazon pauses operations with owner of Miami cargo plane that crashed

Amazon has temporarily suspended its operations with 21 Air LLC, the Miami-based company that owned the Boeing 767 cargo plane involved in a fatal accident last week, according to a statement released on Sunday.

Kelly Nantel, an Amazon spokesperson, emphasized that safety remains the company's utmost priority, both in its own operations and when collaborating with partners. In the aftermath of the tragic incident, Amazon has been actively supporting the ongoing investigation and investigating the circumstances surrounding the event. The spokesperson added that the company will continue to work towards supporting the investigation and all those affected.

The accident occurred on September 6 when the plane overshot the runway during landing, subsequently crashing into vehicles and tragically killing five individuals on the ground. The two pilots, who sustained injuries, have since been discharged from the hospital.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) chief, Jennifer Homendy, announced on Tuesday that officials are reviewing flight data and cockpit voice recordings from the plane. According to the released flight data, investigators believe the plane attempted to abort its landing before colliding with a perimeter fence and striking two vehicles.
