Akwa Ibom has only graveyard peace – ADC guber candidate, Udoedehe

Senator John James Udoedehe, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the 2027 Akwa Ibom State governorship election, has painted a bleak picture of the state's current peace, likening it to that of a graveyard. Governor Umo Eno, Udoedehe claims, has boasted about his prowess in maintaining peace and unity among stakeholders.

However, Udoedehe argues that such peace is forced and artificial, driven by the so-called "benefits of the extended family system" and the provision of handouts to secure loyalty. He lamented that those who benefit from the system discourage critical questioning of the government, referring to such individuals as "troublesome."

Udoedehe criticized the leadership for prioritizing self-interest over the state's development, asserting that the delay in the Ibom Deep Seaport project is a direct result of the leaders' selfish ambitions. He urged the people to demand accountability, as the absence of such questioning prevents the education system from fostering a culture of inquiry. Udoedehe believes that unless this changes, education becomes a means of instilling obedience rather than critical thinking.

Addressing the issue of unemployment and poverty, Udoedehe stated that the current administration's track record is a cause for concern. He pointed out that the APC government in Akwa Ibom has received over N2.3 trillion in funds but has produced no tangible development. Udoedehe proposed that by focusing on employment and poverty alleviation, the government could restore stability and social order.

He emphasized that his campaign strategy remains undisclosed to prevent opposition parties from gaining an advantage, and he vowed to deliver tangible results if elected.
