ADC demands probe into arrest of three members in Rivers

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), a political party in Rivers State, Nigeria, has demanded a probe into the arrest of three of its members following a disruption of a political meeting. According to the party, the incident occurred in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area. The ADC's Rivers State Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi, alleged that personnel from the Nigeria Police and the local vigilante group, OSPAC, disrupted the meeting and intimidated opposition supporters.

Three ADC members - Confidence Amadi, Chikezie Justice, and Isaiah Thomas - were reportedly arrested on allegations of cultism after a consultative meeting organized by the party's House of Assembly candidate for Ikwerre, Jeffrey Wobodo. The ADC claims that security personnel and OSPAC members allegedly assaulted some participants during the meeting, causing injuries and seizing mobile phones belonging to party members.

The party has called for the immediate release of the three men unless the police can provide credible evidence of an identified offence against them and proceed in accordance with the law. The ADC also urged security agencies to investigate whether political interests in the area are connected to the latest incident and to remain impartial in their actions.
