2 booked for ‘Aamdar’ logo on car

Pimpri Chinchwad police initiated a search for individuals distributing counterfeit "Members of Maharashtra's Legislative Assembly (MLA)" car stickers, many of which were discovered on various vehicles. Traffic officers intercepted a Fortuner car near Kaspate Wasti in Wakad on September 10 evening. The police discovered a sticker featuring a circular logo with an Ashok Stambh image and the text "Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha Sadasya" and "Aamdar (MLA)" on the car.

The driver and owner were questioned about their association with any MLA, but it was revealed that neither were connected to any MLA family. Following a complaint, an FIR was filed against the Fortuner car driver Bapu Dhere from Bhosari and owner Rohan Kate from Pimple Saudagar. The accused were booked under section 205 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), parts of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, and the Motor Vehicle Act.

Additional vehicles with similar fake stickers were found in the Pimpri Chinchwad area. Senior police inspector Vitthal Salunkhe of Wakad police station stated that they had obtained information about people fraudulently producing and selling MLA stickers, and they would be apprehended. Similar offenses were reported at Bhosari police station for a contractor, Wasim Ahmad Abdul Jalil Aland from Hadapsar, and another individual, Hitendra Ashok Kawade from Ghorpadi, for attaching a false MLA logo to their BMW car.

The FIR was lodged by Constable Santosh Nichit of traffic police after intercepting the BMW near Hotel Shauryawada in Bhosari around 2 pm on Sunday. Another FIR was filed at Pimpri police station against businessman Yuvraj Babar of Kasarwadi for putting a fake MLA logo on his car. The vehicle was stopped by traffic police near Gaylord chowk around 8 pm on Sunday.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Babar had placed the sticker on his car to obtain VIP facilities, despite not being associated with any MLA.
