Yemeni army retakes positions in western Taiz with air support

Yemeni forces have reclaimed territory in western Taiz and expanded their reach into new areas on Sunday, supported by airstrikes aimed at Houthi militants throughout the province. The Yemeni armed forces successfully recaptured sites that had been infiltrated by Houthi militants in the western Taiz province, and proceeded to advance into previously unoccupied regions.

A military source in the Taiz axis informed the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) that the armed forces had regained control of positions overlooking the Jirdad area in Al-Shamayatayn district and pushed towards the Ghayl Bani Omar area as part of ongoing efforts to expel Houthi militants from the province. During the clashes, the armed forces seized military equipment and inflicted significant casualties on the militants.

In response to the advances, warplanes conducted a series of airstrikes on Houthi positions, gatherings, and vehicles across multiple districts of Taiz province. The strikes targeted vehicles and gatherings of Houthi militants in the Dhubab, Al-Wazi iyah, and Hayfan districts, as well as a group of Houthi fighters in the Al-Afeera area of the Jabal Habashy district.

These attacks resulted in the destruction of several military vehicles, the detonation of a stockpile of medium-caliber ammunition, and the death of at least ten militants.
