WoW Forever announced at BlizzCon 2026

At the 2026 BlizzCon event, Blizzard unveiled World of Warcraft: Forever, a new iteration of the beloved MMO that maintains the original level-60 framework while bringing a wealth of fresh content. The game is aimed at longtime World of Warcraft players who crave the nostalgia of Azeroth without simply re-experiencing familiar territory. WoW Forever preserves the Classic experience, yet continues to expand the world for those who wish to explore it.

Unlike the typical progression seen in modern World of Warcraft, WoW Forever keeps the game at level-60, with new adventures built into this framework. Blizzard describes it as a distinct experience alongside Modern WoW and Classic, rather than a separate version of the existing Classic servers. The game will debut on November 4, 2026, with a beta launch on September 17, allowing players to test the new version before its full release.

World of Warcraft: Forever will introduce over 1,000 new quests, along with three fresh zones and expanded versions of existing areas. Additional content includes nine new dungeons, two new raids, a new battleground, new skills and talents, updated world visuals, and a brand new playable race - the Skyborne Elves. The addition of this race marks a significant step for Classic WoW, expanding the world without straying from its original visual and gameplay foundations.

A key aspect of WoW Forever is its commitment to the level-60 cap, which differentiates it from the traditional World of Warcraft model of raising the level cap with each major expansion. By expanding horizontally within the original framework, Blizzard aims to provide an evolving experience without players constantly leaving the level-60 environment behind.
