Weaver to Clark connection nets 2TDs and San Jose St. fends off Cal Poly upset bid in 30-20 win

Luke Weaver connected with receiver Carson Clark twice, contributing two of his three touchdowns in San Jose State's 30-20 victory over FCS-member Cal Poly on Saturday night. The Trojans capitalized on their fourth quarter surge to secure the win. Trajan Sinatra broke a 20-all tie with a crucial 20-yard field goal just three minutes into the fourth quarter.

Weaver sealed the win with a 41-yard TD pass to Clark with 7:20 remaining. The Spartans' defense proved to be a key factor, limiting Cal Poly's offense to just 98 yards on 21 plays, with two interceptions by Caleb Womak and a turnover on downs. San Jose State's Jabari Bates rushed for 163 yards on 27 carries. Cal Poly took their initial lead with a 75-yard drive early in the game, followed by a missed extra point.

Anthony Grigsby accounted for 249 yards and a touchdown through the air for Cal Poly, but was intercepted twice. Despite Grigsby's strong performance, San Jose State emerged victorious. Up next for San Jose State is an in-state matchup against Fresno State this Saturday.
