Udhayanidhi Stalin accuses TVK-led Tamil Nadu government of failing to address power cuts, price rise

Tamil Nadu is grappling with frequent power outages, escalating prices of essential goods, and law and order concerns under the leadership of the TVK-led government, claimed the Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Sunday (September 13, 2026). Addressing an event in Chennai, Mr. Udhayanidhi asserted that the DMK is approaching a crucial juncture.

In two days, the DMK will commemorate its 'Mupperum Vizha', during which the party has experienced both triumphs and setbacks over its 77-year existence. Beyond electoral successes and failures, the DMK has consistently championed the interests of the people, he argued. Despite missing the chance to regain power, he noted that the DMK has operated efficiently as an opposition party, and its supporters will always stand by the populace.

"The people of Tamil Nadu are enduring various problems due to the ruling party. Daily, fresh issues arise. There are power cuts, law and order conditions are dire, and prices of essential commodities are soaring. Yet, when inquiries are made, the Chief Minister remains silent. This silence prompts defamatory allegations against the DMK and our leader [M.K.

Stalin]," he stated. "In Tamil Nadu's political history, we have never encountered such uncivilized and inept Chief Minister [C. Joseph Vijay]. When they [the TVK] assumed power, they made numerous promises. However, they have not introduced any new initiatives. This administration is engaged in renaming existing schemes and affixing labels on the schemes launched by our Dravidian model government," Mr. Udhayanidhi said.

"In the forthcoming bypolls, we must dish out a proper lesson to this inept Chief Minister, and it will mark the start of the downfall of the incumbent regime," he concluded.
