Trump slams AI critics after Anthropic CEO, OpenAI chief raise alarm: ‘Negative forces’

US President Donald Trump recently criticized critics of artificial intelligence (AI), labeling them as "negative forces" who raise concerns about developments that may not come to pass. This came after AI executives and employees, including Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, expressed concerns about the rapid advancement of AI models and called for their "pacing."

Amodei highlighted potential risks such as loss of control, misuse for cyberattacks and bioterrorism, and economic disruption. He proposed a plan involving employee-like access for external evaluators to verify safety practices and assess alignment of AI models, models and training. Altman concurred with Amodei's stance on the need to regulate the speed of AI development.

Elon Musk also supported Amodei's concerns. The Anthropic CEO further urged AI companies in democratic nations to establish common safety standards and urged governments to coordinate with "authoritarian governments" to ensure compliance.
