The UAE couple rescuing stranded drivers for free and how they’ve helped more than 6,000 vehicles

Dubai: Ahmad Hiskol and his wife Nora founded BlueRex Offroad Rescue, a volunteer group that rescues stranded vehicles in the UAE for free. Both are full-time employees but dedicate their weekends and public holidays to the cause, turning up to help when no one else can. The couple started their rescue efforts as a passion for off-roading and helping people, with no intention of charging for their services.

Ahmad shared that their motivation lies in being there when someone needs help and knowing that even a small act of assistance can make a significant difference in someone's day. The turning point for them came during the UAE floods of 2024, when they assisted over 100 vehicles trapped in flooded areas. This experience led them to build their social media presence, particularly on Instagram, which now has more than 200,000 followers.

They use their platform to educate people about off-roading, how to avoid getting stranded, and how to prepare their vehicles for desert conditions. BlueRex consists of Ahmad, Nora, their daughter Eva, and a network of volunteers across the UAE who support them when needed. The group does not operate like a commercial recovery company with employees working shifts; instead, they are a community of people willing to help when they can.

Most people initially contact BlueRex through social media platforms or a dedicated mobile number and WhatsApp line specifically for rescue cases. The team assesses each situation based on photos and videos sent by the caller, determining whether a physical rescue is needed or if the stranded individual can recover their vehicle themselves with guidance.

Ahmad explained that some rescues take only a few minutes and can be resolved over the phone, while others require hours of hands-on work. Despite operating as a volunteer group, BlueRex has registered with Dubai Police and assists more than 6,000 vehicles since starting in August 2024.
