Sarawak cadang kongsi 5%-10% hasil persekutuan sebagai geran khas

Premier Sarawak Abang Johari Openg has proposed that the federal government share between 5% and 10% of its revenues with the state, based on the state's capacity, ability and capacity. During discussions in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) committee, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reportedly agreed to the proposal. The Premier emphasized that if the national income increases, Sarawak should receive a larger share, and if it decreases, the share should be smaller.

He stated that Sarawak is flexible and rational, according to Dayak Daily at a special Persekutuan Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) convention. The premier stated that further discussions will be held between the Sarawak and federal finance ministers. He assured that the proposal is not unfair, based on the capacity, ability, and capacity of the federal government.

Last year, the federal government provided special grants of RM600 million each to Sabah and Sarawak, two years after increasing the grants to RM300 million. In May, Anwar stated that the RM600 million grant to Sabah would be increased to RM1.5 billion while awaiting the constitutional claim regarding the portion of the federal clean tax revenue.
