Russia hits evacuated Kyiv-Warsaw train on line used by foreign leaders

On September 12, Russian airstrikes in Ukraine killed nine people, injured over a dozen, and caused damage to residential buildings and infrastructure nationwide, according to local officials. The civilian death toll has surged in recent months as Russia intensifies attacks on power plants and other critical infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy claimed Russia deployed nearly 500 drones against Ukrainian targets since early morning, utilizing these drones to expand the war into the economy, aiming to destroy essential sites that aid civilians in coping with war conditions.

Local reports indicate Russian forces targeting private cars in Kramatorsk, killing three and injuring four. Russia also attacked a grocery store in Zvyahel, killing two, and two petrol stations in the same town. In Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih, two people were killed and 11 injured during attacks involving drones and missiles. Russian forces reportedly struck a steel plant, an Interpipe Steel complex in Dnipro, and several others in Kryvyi Rih, including Northern Iron Ore Beneficiation Works.

In the Black Sea port of Odesa, nearly 40 people were injured across multiple attacks stretching from the early hours to Saturday evening. Russia-controlled areas in Donetsk reported three people killed in Ukrainian drone attacks. Moldova closed its national airspace for an hour after detecting a Russian drone near its border, temporarily halting seven border crossings.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported its forces continued attacking Ukrainian ports, targeting a cargo ship in Odesa and two vessels in Chornomorsk with military-grade goods. Ukrainian military claimed to have hit one of Russia's major synthetic rubber producers in Togliatti, causing a fire. Meanwhile, Russian sources alleged Ukrainian drones damaged industrial facilities in Samara region, causing residential building damage and injury in Togliatti.
