Remains of 5 Sarawak chopper crash victims handed over to families

The bodies of the five individuals who perished in the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, were recently returned to their families in Miri. Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad confirmed that his department had coordinated the transport of the remains, following the identification of the victims through DNA testing.

Dr. Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, a medical officer, will be buried in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, after being flown from Miri to Kuala Lumpur. Nurse Debra Moset will be laid to rest in Padawan, and her funeral will take place at the BEM cemetery in Lambir, Miri, the following day. Nurse Jessie Paya Jok's remains will be returned to her family home today, with her funeral scheduled for the day after tomorrow at the Lambir Anglican cemetery in Miri.

Assistant Medical Officer Alexson Adit Henry's remains will also be taken to his family home today, with his funeral planned for Tuesday at the Lambir Anglican cemetery in Miri. Pilot Zainol Afiq Bee Sham's body will be transported from Miri to Kuala Lumpur International Airport before being interred in the Forest Heights Muslim cemetery in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan.

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad pledged to enhance cooperation with the fire and rescue department to facilitate future medical evacuation operations, following a temporary suspension of the Flying Doctor Service for investigations and assessments.
