Red sanders smugglers ram forest patrol vehicle during high-speed chase, four injured

A violent high-speed chase unfolded on Sunday morning along the Rompicherla-Pulicharla road, marking the border between Chittoor and Annamayya districts. Forest officials, alerted to the presence of a red sanders log smuggling operation, intensified their surveillance and intercepted a suspicious vehicle. The officials halted their own vehicle to obstruct the suspected smugglers' escape route.

However, the operatives allegedly accelerated towards the patrol vehicle, ramming into it in a desperate attempt to flee. Two forest beat officers and two suspected smugglers were injured in the collision, suffering serious injuries. Prakash and Charan Pratap, both from the Piler forest range in Annamayya district, were among the injured officials.

The same applied to the two suspected smugglers. All four were taken to the SVRR Government Hospital in Tirupati for medical treatment. Authorities have registered a case and are currently conducting further investigations.
