Queensland woman falls to her death at Bali cliff popular with tourists

A Queensland woman, aged 29, tragically fell to her death at Kelingking Beach, a popular tourist destination in Bali, according to police reports. The incident occurred on a Saturday morning when she was found on the side of the 180-meter-high coastal cliff, police reported. Emergency services arrived at the scene but she had already fallen further into a ravine before they could reach her.

The police estimate that the woman had dropped around 9am. Ms Cakra Negara, the alert unit coordinator, explained that she had been seeking an independent path toward the cliff's edge before slipping and falling. When found, the victim had sustained several fractures and was secured onto a stretcher for the evacuation process. Kelingking Beach, renowned for its stunning panoramic views from the coastal cliff, is a favorite spot for tourists visiting Bali.

The woman had been visiting the area on a holiday. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed that the Australian government was providing consular assistance to the woman's family, expressing their deepest condolences in a statement. Queensland's Premier David Crisafulli expressed his sorrow, stating that the death was "incredibly, incredibly sad," and requested privacy for the family during this difficult time.

Swimming at Kelingking Beach is prohibited year-round due to dangerous currents. The journey to the beach involves a two-hour trek along a perilous path. A project to build a panoramic glass lift to provide easier access to the beach began in 2024, but due to strong opposition from locals and tourists, it was halted in October 2025.
