PTI questions urgency of FCC hearing on Sher Afzal Marwat's plea against KP CM Sohail Afridi's appointment

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expressed concerns over the Federal Constitutional Court's (FCC) decision to schedule a hearing on Sher Afzal Marwat's petition challenging Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi's appointment. Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that the manner in which the matter was approached raised questions about judicial impartiality and the role of courts in politically sensitive situations.

He noted that the petition lacked legal weight, as former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur had resigned voluntarily and Sohail Afridi was nominated by PTI founder Imran Khan, who then secured his election through the constitutional process. PTI questioned the urgency of fixing the petition for hearing, given the party's preparations for a Sept 27 protest march, and urged the judiciary to exercise caution in politically sensitive matters.

The PTI leader also expressed concern over Imran Khan's health, calling for immediate implementation of the Supreme Court's directive for an independent medical examination and treatment. Waqas Akram urged the court to ensure adherence to its August 18 order, directing Imran Khan to be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for the examination in the presence of the founder's sister, Dr Uzma Khan, and his personal physician, Dr Faisal Sultan.

He also called for action against those failing to comply with the court's order, expressing concern over the uncertainty surrounding Imran Khan's medical arrangements among his supporters and the public. PTI emphasized the need for meaningful consultation, constitutional procedures, and provincial assembly involvement in any administrative unit restructuring, warning against hasty or unilateral actions.
