Police arrest 262 suspects, rescue 27 kidnapped victims

Between September 5 and 11, 2026, the Nigeria Police Force carried out operations that resulted in the arrest of 262 suspects and the rescue of 27 kidnapped individuals. The suspects were apprehended for a variety of criminal activities, such as kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, banditry, cultism, human trafficking, drug trafficking, vandalism, and other offenses.

In addition, the police recovered 34 firearms, 375 rounds of ammunition, and 11 vehicles, while neutralizing 11 armed suspects during the operations. These figures were disclosed in the weekly operational briefing released by the Force spokesman, Ani Iniedu, on Sunday. The police conducted the operations through intelligence-led tactical approaches and in cooperation with local communities and other security agencies.
