Parliament Open Day draws record 13,368 visitors

The Malaysia Parliament Open Day, held over two days, successfully drew a record-breaking attendance of 13,368 visitors, surpassing the initial target of 10,000 people. This marked the program's highest achievement since its inaugural event in 2023, showcasing the public's growing interest in understanding the institution that symbolizes the country's democracy.

Senate President Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah emphasized that the program offers numerous opportunities for the public to learn about Parliament, highlighting that the institution belongs to the people. He also extended his appreciation to the Parliament Chief Administrator, his staff, and various government ministries and agencies for their contributions.

The chief administrator further mentioned that the primary goal of the program is to bring Parliament closer to the people by allowing them to experience firsthand the environment and processes that take place inside. A record 13,368 visitors were recorded throughout the two days, compared to around 8,600 visitors in 2023, indicating a significant increase in public awareness and interest in Parliament.

One visitor, Ahmad Firdaus Abdullah Tahrin, expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity to bring his children and friends to the visit, emphasizing the importance of direct exposure to the institution. He believed that this experience, beyond textbooks, helps children understand the debate and implementation of laws, policies, and acts, preparing them to be future leaders.
