No room, 1 meal a day: How a UPSC aspirant from Bihar lives in a Delhi library

A Mumbai-based Air India captain, in his 40s, was discovered deceased in a hotel room in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj on Friday, according to police. The pilot had been residing at the hotel for a layover since Thursday. An autopsy was performed on Saturday at Safdarjung Hospital to determine the cause of death, and inquest proceedings were initiated under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

The hotel notified the Vasant Kunj North police station about the incident on Friday, and a police team was dispatched. Hotel staff found the pilot unconscious and transported him to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead. Police determined the individual to be an airline captain who checked into the hotel on Thursday.

On Friday evening, the pilot's brother reached out to the hotel manager, informing him that his brother was unresponsive to phone calls. The manager entered the locked room using a hotel master key and discovered the pilot unconscious. The specific cause of death will be determined following the postmortem report, and further investigations are ongoing.

Air India expressed its deep sorrow, stating that the pilot was set to pilot a flight early Saturday morning. The pilot had transitioned from Air India Express to Air India a few months ago. Air India is actively communicating with the pilot's family and providing support during this challenging time.
