NIS graduates 1,626 officers, urges border security

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has graduated 1,626 officers from its Fourth Combined and Upgrading Course, 2026, emphasizing the importance of maintaining professionalism in border security and migration management. The Passing Out Parade took place at the Immigration Training School in Kano and the Digital Bridge Institute.

The NIS Public Relations Officer, DCI AS Akinlabi, announced the achievement in a statement. The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, represented by the Assistant Comptroller-General for Human Resources Management, SU Agba, congratulated the officers and urged them to uphold professionalism in their duties. Nandap highlighted the significance of technology in tackling contemporary border security and migration management challenges.

The Commandant of the Immigration Training School in Kano, AN Akuneme, noted that the course had the highest number of recruits, making it the largest training programme in the school's history. Akuneme encouraged the graduates to adapt to changing border management dynamics by facilitating legitimate migration and preventing irregular migration and trans-border threats.

The ceremony included merit awards for outstanding participants and the commissioning of an ultra-modern market constructed by the course participants. Notable attendees included representatives from various security agencies and serving and retired senior officers of the NIS.
