New ‘Crystal Lake’ Trailer Promises Fresh Kills from the World of ‘Friday the 13th’

A new streaming series, "Crystal Lake," is set to plunge viewers into the world of "Friday the 13th." This A24 production, which premieres on Peacock on October 15, marks the prequel to the original "Friday the 13th" movie and is set in the 1970s. The story revolves around single mother Pam Voorhees, grappling with her sorrow following the drowning death of her young, ailing son, Jason, almost a year prior.

When two outsiders arrive at Pam's doorstep, inquiring about her past, a dark chain of events unfolds, leaving the inhabitants of Crystal Lake questioning who Pam Voorhees truly is.

The series, which spans eight episodes, was initially conceptualized by Bryan Fuller and Jim Danger Gray. However, Fuller and Gray departed from the project, and Brad Caleb Kane, known for his work on "It: Welcome to Derry," was brought in. Kane's contribution introduced some elements akin to the "Derry" universe, adding a touch of ominous intrigue to Pam's character. One such addition is a hallway shot that hints at deeper, hidden dangers lurking beneath the surface.

The series is primed to join other major horror releases hitting streaming platforms around Halloween, alongside "Below" and "Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story" on Netflix, "American Horror Story: 13" on Hulu, and "Carrie" on Prime Video. All eight episodes of "Crystal Lake" will be available on Peacock starting October 15.
