NDLEA seizes UK-bound cannabis, drugs hidden in bread, speakers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized significant amounts of synthetic cannabis, known as Colorado, at various locations across Nigeria. In Lagos, two shipments were intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and two motor parks. The first interception involved 32.20kg of Colorado concealed in 27 parcels within a UK-bound cargo, leading to the arrest of real estate agent Abideen Jide Salami.

The second shipment, weighing 12.25kg, was intercepted by operatives from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, with suspects Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri and Ifeanyi Obed Augustine arrested. Additionally, in Lagos, a music speaker rigged with three packs of Colorado was seized in Maza-Maza, leading to the arrest of tour agent Ifeanyi Obed Augustine and consignor Obasi Ugochukwu.

In Delta State, seizures included ampoules of pentazocine, codeine syrup, tramadol, diazepam, flunitrazepam, and MDMA, concealed in music speakers. In Kano, 785,000 capsules of pregabalin weighing 669.425kg were seized. The NDLEA also warned Nigerians against receiving unknown cargoes from abroad, highlighting the destruction of 4,832.56kg of skunk cannabis in Edo State.

Arrests were made in Plateau, Ondo, Kaduna, Bayelsa, and other states, with various substances including tramadol, cannabis, and other controlled drugs confiscated. The agency continued its War Against Drug Abuse sensitization activities across the country.
