Nadda highlights need for a resilient healthcare system

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda emphasized the importance of a resilient healthcare system, highlighting that it involves more than just expanding bed capacity. A resilient healthcare system must possess critical-care capacity, oxygen and medical-gas systems, isolation facilities, trained personnel, laboratory capabilities, and the ability to swiftly detect disease outbreaks, all while maintaining regular health services.

He inaugurated 10 Critical Care Blocks (CCBs) and 12 Integrated Public Health Laboratories (IPHLs), valued at ₹250 crore, in Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant stride towards enhancing public health preparedness and health-security architecture in the state. These facilities were installed alongside the existing healthcare infrastructure, adding 500 critical-care beds and incorporating advanced operation theaters, ultrasound services, and specialized care in cardiology, nephrology, neurology, and neurosurgery.

Nadda introduced the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), which allocated funds for the deployment of 24 CCBs and 26 IPHLs across the state. He commended Andhra Pradesh’s Sanjeevani program for delivering healthcare services to the doorsteps of people and enabling testing for 41 health parameters.
