Motorcyclist dies after trying to avoid pedestrian in Hulu Selangor

In Hulu Selangor, a 60-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after attempting to evade a pedestrian crossing the road. The accident occurred around 7pm on Jalan Batang Kali-Ulu Yam, according to Sinar Harian, which quoted Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt M Manimaran. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was overtaking a lorry on the right when the pedestrian crossed the road.

In an attempt to avoid the pedestrian, the motorcyclist lost control and fell from his motorcycle, subsequently being struck by the lorry, which belonged to a 45-year-old man on his way to deliver goods to Penang. The victim was immediately pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer. Police learned of the fatal accident via the Traffic Complaints Counter at approximately 7.30pm.

Further investigations aim to clarify the exact cause of the incident, which is currently being examined under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Manimaran called on anyone with pertinent information to reach out to traffic investigation officer Insp Khairul Salleh Abd Rahman at 03-6064 1222 or the nearest police station to aid the investigation.
