Mammootty lights up Sharjah as fans flock to Rajakeeyam

Sharjah hosted a massive celebration for Malayalam superstar Mammootty on Saturday as he graced the stage of Expo Centre Sharjah for the event ‘Rajakeeyam – Celebrate with Legends’. The event, a dazzling showcase of Malayalam cinema, music, dance and nostalgia, drew thousands of enthusiastic fans to catch a glimpse of the four-time National Film Award winner and two-time Kerala State Film Award recipient.

Mammootty, who turned 75 during the event, was honored with the esteemed Padma Bhushan in 2026 and has acted in over 400 films, cementing his place as one of Indian cinema’s most influential figures.

The highlight of the evening was the reunion of Mammootty and fellow Malayalam cinema legend Adoor Gopalakrishnan, marking the first time the duo have worked together in 32 years. Their collaboration on the upcoming film ‘Padayatra’ generated significant buzz, especially as it was Adoor’s return to filmmaking after a decade. The presence of Adoor Gopalakrishnan added an extra layer of nostalgia to the already star-studded night.

A galaxy of Malayalam cinema stars brightened the event, including actors Siddique, Remya Nambeesan and Anu Sithara, pianist and composer Stephen Devassy, and singers Madhu Balakrishnan, Anusree, Nithya Mammen, Aravind Venugopal and Jyotsna Radhakrishnan. Popular entertainers Ramesh Pisharody and Mithun Ramesh also graced the occasion. The atmosphere remained electric throughout the night, with fans’ adoration for Mammootty reaching a fever pitch and echoing through Expo Centre Sharjah.
