Laos’ Champasak invites Ho Chi Minh City firm to develop new industrial park

Laos' Champasak Province has invited a HCMC enterprise to survey a new industrial park project, aiming to enhance bilateral trade, logistics, and supply chain connections to seaports following the 2026 HCMC Friendship Dialogue. On September 12, a Champasak delegation led by Party Secretary Alounxai Sounnalath visited the Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park (PM3 SIP) in Ho Chi Minh City.

PM3 SIP spans almost 1,000 hectares and is situated next to the Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water port complex, 28 kilometers from Long Thanh International Airport. Its strategic connection to major arterial roads and expressways offers seamless cargo transport to seaports, airports, and consumer centers. The industrial park boasts utility systems for electricity, water, natural gas, LPG, and industrial gases, along with integrated inland container depots, warehousing, and logistics services.

Post the tour, Champasak leadership commended PM3 SIP's location, infrastructure, and deep-water port access, emphasizing their importance for production, storage, transshipment, export, and international market linkage. The delegation discussed potential cooperation in developing similar industrial parks in Laos. Champasak presently has three industrial zones near Thai and Cambodian borders, with plans to develop another.

The province is considering an additional industrial park and showed interest in inviting PM3 SIP for feasibility studies and tailored development models. The Lao delegation sought insights into freight transport routes, investment incentives, wastewater treatment, technical infrastructure, land clearance, compensation, and resident welfare.

This survey paves the way for connecting Ho Chi Minh City businesses with Champasak province in industrial infrastructure, logistics, and investment attraction, turning FD 2026's dialogue into concrete development cooperation.
