Korea basketball coach praises team for timely effort in win over Japan

NAGOYA, Japan — Korea head coach Nikolajs Mazurs commended his athletes for delivering a decisive performance in their hard-fought victory over Japan during the men's basketball tournament of the Asian Games held in enemy territory. After a dominant display, Korea emerged victorious with a score of 100-83, securing the top position in Group A at the Aichi International Arena in Nagoya, central Japan.

With three consecutive wins, the Korean team advanced to the quarterfinals as the top seed from Group A, while Japan settled for second place. Reigning Korean Basketball League MVP Lee, known for his scoring prowess, scored 25 points, including three crucial three-pointers in the final quarter and contributed five treys overall.

Jang Jae-seok, a towering center standing 205 centimeters tall, provided essential defensive and rebounding efforts, especially after being substituted in early due to starting center Lee Seoung-hyun's early fouls. Coach Mazurs expressed pride in his team's cohesive effort, acknowledging that each player stepped up when it mattered most during the intense match.
