Kindiki tells off Gachagua over Mt Kenya division claims – ‘You can’t unite anything’

NAIROBI, Kenya - Two suspects have been arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as they investigate the violent disruption of a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) delegates' meeting in Embu County. One individual died, several police officers were injured, and several vehicles were set on fire after residents stormed the meeting.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki attended the meeting, which was held at Nembure Grounds. The DCI stated that political differences should not lead to lawlessness, and detectives are pursuing additional suspects involved in the criminal acts. The National Police Service (NPS) said officers intervened when a group tried to breach the meeting, and several suspects were arrested at the scene.

The DCI has confirmed the arrest of two suspects, while they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the violence and identify all those involved. The DCI warned that anyone who attacks others, torches vehicles, destroys property, barricades public roads, or assaults police officers will be pursued, arrested, and brought to justice.

Kindiki condemned the disruption and called for action against those responsible, emphasizing that the UDA party opposes the use of violence in political competition and supports issue-based politics focused on policy goals for Kenya's future.
