Kenyans dominate 2026 KGL Millennium Marathon as race champions mental Health

The 2026 KGL Foundation Millennium Marathon saw a massive turnout at Independence Square in Accra, with runners from across Ghana and beyond participating in this year's event. While Kenyan athletes Alex Korio and Lucy Ndambuki dominated the 21km elite races, the marathon's true focus was on mental wellness. This year's race aligned with the KGL Foundation's Mental Health initiative, specifically the Mental Health Index (MHI), a digital approach to educating Ghanaians on mental health.

The initiative built upon the recent Corporate Wellness Forum, which introduced a Health & Fitness Index to rank companies on physical, mental, and community wellness. KGL Foundation CEO Elliot Dadey expressed pride in the event's success, crediting the teamwork that made it happen. Over the past five years, the KGL Foundation has undertaken various social interventions across Ghana, including the construction of the KGL-EVE Wellness Centre, the facelift of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, and investments in juvenile football and hospital incubators.

The marathon continued to serve as a platform for promoting physical fitness, mental wellness, and community development, solidifying its status as Ghana's premier international road race.
