Jobe strikes out career-high 8, Tigers extend Rockies’ slide to 7 games with 8-1 win

Jackson Jobe achieved a career-high of eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings while pitching into the seventh inning, marking a milestone for the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers emerged victorious in a 8-1 win against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, extending their winning streak to four games. This triumph concluded a three-game sweep and marked a significant turnaround for the Tigers, who had been on a seven-game losing streak.

Colorado matched its longest losing streak of the season at seven games, resulting in a 5-20 record since August 16. The Rockies (50-94) have collectively lost 94 or more games over the course of five consecutive seasons. Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson contributed with home runs for Detroit (70-79), while Jackson Jobe (2-2) recorded 16 swings and misses, allowing only two hits and one walk.

Jobe has held opponents to two runs or fewer in five of his seven starts since returning from Tommy John surgery in August. For the Colorado Rockies, Tomoyuki Sugano (12-9, 5.30 ERA) is set to start Monday night's game against the San Diego Padres. Detroit's starting pitcher for the same matchup will be RHP Troy Melton (8-4, 2.42 ERA), followed by RHP José Soriano.
