Java Sea ferry accident leaves six dead, 140 missing: Basarnas

The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, known as Wisma Putra, has not yet received any information confirming that Malaysians were among the passengers aboard the missing passenger ship Virgo Transport 8. The ship went missing in the Java Sea near Indonesia, with 103 people rescued thus far, and one fatality reported. Indonesian authorities are conducting a search for the remaining 140 individuals on board.

Wisma Putra is in communication with Indonesian authorities to obtain the official passenger list and other verified details. As of now, the ministry has not found any indication of Malaysian nationals being on board. The Malaysian embassy in Jakarta continues to engage with Indonesian authorities to gather more information and updates on the situation.
